Barbara Franceski creates interiors with lots of personality that are at once elegant, interesting, and inviting. By blending classical with contemporary, she consistently delivers beautifully detailed homes. Her hallmark is thoughtful customization -- designing luxurious, unique spaces that seem perfectly at ease within their environment. As a full-service interior design firm, ideas are guided from conception to completion.
Growing up minutes from the nation's capital, Barbara was strongly encouraged as a child to appreciate the arts. From classes on calligraphy and marbling paper at the Smithsonian to making pinhole cameras at Glen Echo, each experience further fueled her creativity. When it came time for higher education, a good foundation in design was Barbara's top pursuit, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a minor in Art History from James Madison University. She also studied abroad in France and Italy.
Fortunate enough to have traveled far and wide, European sensibilities especially shape Barbara's work. Color palettes are well conceived, and she is fearless when playing with scale, texture and pattern. But she also has great appreciation for form and order. It's this ability to combine, edit and refine that sets Barbara apart, and brings sophistication and originality to her interiors.
Named top "Up And Coming Interior Designer" in Washington Home & Design's 2011 Designers' Choice Awards, Barbara was also a nominee for The Washington Design Center's 2011 "Ones to Watch" Award. In addition, she was selected for the second year in a row to participate in the 2011 DC Design House, the area's premier annual show house benefiting Children's National Medical Center. Spotlighted in several design blogs, her work has been published in feature articles in both Washington Home & Design and Casa Claudia-Portugal as well as in Celerie Kemble's latest book Black and White: And a Bit in Between.
Barbara is a NCIDQ-certified interior designer, licensed in DC, and a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers. At present, she is working on residences in the DC metro area as well as out of state.
